What’s the biggest challenge in dating/marriage today according to you?
When he said "Introspect", for young women, I almost snorted and giggled at his naivete. Imagine a girl even tried to make that list of what she wants from a marriage, and her over -enthusiastic mom doesn't deliberately overtake the entire process and start telling her what she should be doing instead. Even Mahima didn't emphasize this one crucial snag in the plan. Remember, moms in their midlife are either re-doing or undoing their own optics through their eligible daughters. Also, finding someone on a matrimony site is immediately dismissed as 'love marriage' , and critised saying that the girl hasn't seen enough of the world and parents are supposed to be much more experienced in life. This podcast should have really addressed over involved mothers and detecting their entitlement during this tiring highly taxing tamasha called arranged marriage. Saying this as a pre-marriage counsellor.
Instead of saying a marriage changes a guys life, give some credit to the woman who has entered his life and given him the energy and environment to make them successful!!

Court marriage is best it’s extremely convenient happens in few hours same day and very cost effective. My cousin who’s working in Google in US with crore+ pakage did a simple court wedding in India, he could have easily spent crores on luxury wedding to impress society but he didn’t instead the couple did annadam for 100 underprivileged kids and went on a luxury honeymoon. But in today’s time girls are influenced by bollywood celebrities wedding or their friends luxury wedding that they generally don’t agree for court marriage.

Love marriage me bhi false promises, emotional circus hota hi hai. Bas problem ye hai ki ab bollywood youth ke dimag me ye bhusa bhar raha hai ki chhapri pana karo or bhag jaao. koi fark nai padta tumne finance, long term planning, compatibility check ki hai ki nai.
This is only North Indian focused and important to highlight that when you keep saying Bharati!! Things are very different in the South..not necessarily better or worse, but very different.
I am amazed how women rationalise their choices and judge men for having them. When it came to bald men, she said it is genetic. Baldness today has lot of cure. Isn't complexion or ugly features genetic? Society treats ugly people very differently. You will face lot of discrimination. Your love life will be almost 0. So if I marry low attractive woman, I risk creating lot of difficulties for my children entire life. Baldness usually happen in 30s by the time your child easily can settle in career and have family.
Arranged or love, marriage is a defunct institution. Most relationships are materialistic. Stay single stay happy. Ours is a singles group for 40+, all never married and we all are very happy.
Purpose is not really one its many .Marital relationship marinates organically over the period under many different phases of life ultimately its the friendship that is needed to be strong.
I don't know about other people, but in arranged marriages, this is what we do 1st of all, when someone receives a bio data, on one side, we do a background check of the family through known people,social media, and other relatives, etc. During this time, the kundali's are also checked. If both things are okay, then first, the elders talk on the phone and meet each other, and then the boy and girl meet. Even if the families have no problem, still it depends on the boy and girl if they wish to proceed or not In many cases, families and boy and girl meet at the same time. Nowadays , we prefer to give some time to the boy and girl to talk to each other for a longer time to get to know each other better and then take the decision . (Before anyone tags me as an old guy, im just 20 y/o)
