Very well done. No one in the US is familiar with over 95% of this material. Paine was sent to the US to serve Franklin as his acolyte. Franklin knew that he himself could not stay in the colonies during Revolution, and had already planned his departure to France. Are you aware that academic authors in the 20th century US, have removed Paine entirely from the John Laurens mission to Paris? Why? Thomas Paine was almost certainly gay, and had a personal relationship with Laurens, as did Alexander Hamilton. The leading American "Fathers" including Adams and Washington (who was likely either gay or bi) had a disgust of this part of Paine's life. This explains their treatment of Paine after the stress of Revolution had ended. It also explains Paine's perpetual attraction to pwerful men throughout his life, while having no meaningful relationships with any women. Thanks for this doc, and for reading this!

Thomas Paine was the man who best expressed the spirit of the revolution. But after the war for independence, the wealthy and powerful made a counter-revolution to suppress popular democracy. President Washington tel him rot in a French prison during the French Revolution.

I love these but I can't stand the way the dying is expressed. I am nearly sixty and many of us are alone. Hearing such drama around these deaths are too much to bare, over and over again, each story...such focus on a miserable and lonely death or dying poor. After listening to tens of these, infound myself worried about my own situation. Especially lining them up for sleep, always waking up to words like these. Otherwise, amazingly well done. I wonder if others feel as I do?

There’s something both inspiring and a bit sad about his life… giving so much, yet ending in relative obscurity.
