Rights Don't Check Your Passport - A Human Rights Day Documentary

Activism

This documentary, hosted by Andréas Ruth Deolinda, founder and CEO of The Harvest Africa organisation, follows the daily rhythms of Rosettenville, a community shaped by movement, resilience, and survival. As South Africa commemorates Human Rights Month, culminating on 21 March 2026, this film turns its lens toward the lived realities of refugees and immigrants navigating life on the margins. In a neighbourhood defined by low socioeconomic conditions, these individuals share a powerful story of perseverance: hustling, adapting, and enduring ongoing challenges. Living side by side with South African locals, their journeys reveal the weight of survival and the quiet strength needed to build a life under pressure. While the publication engaged voices across the community, this documentary centres on three women whose stories carry a profound message of hope: a call to embrace our shared humanity before citizenship. As The Harvest Africa continues to expand this series, we look forward to engaging more voices across the greater city of Johannesburg, uncovering the layered stories that shape the spirit of the Rainbow Nation.
