The Southern Way of Life - History of the Negro People (1965)

Order your Family History Journal here - https://rootspreserved.com/product/family-journal/ This clip is from The History of the Negro People, a nine-part documentary series hosted by Ossie Davis, produced in 1965 by National Educational Television — the network that became PBS. In this moment, Black Southerners are asked what the "southern way of life" really means to them — and their answers strip away every comfortable myth white Southerners told themselves. For Black women, it meant being called by your first name or "girl" no matter your age. For Black families, it meant your children wore hand-me-downs from white households. It meant buying food from a side entrance or a back door. It meant saying "yes ma'am" and "yes sir" — even if they were a teenager. But then one of the speakers says something that cuts deeper than all of it: you cannot hold down or discriminate against someone else without having the same thing happen to yourself. Segregation didn't just cage Black people — it trapped white people too.

As an FBA(foundational Black Amer)born in 1967, to watch this brought back memories. Horrible memories! Their mindset haven't changed much; they only disguise better.

I know some of us too many of us are we are just not quit to grasp we are not quick to catch on I mean the first lady she was so petrified terrified to even say what she was saying you can clearly tell what she was saying she was being forced to say it and in those particular words because the race is white supremacist have to make themselves look like they are not doing any real harm because don't get me wrong they have no problem recording a documenting their their harm that they do to others I'm saying that this is a narrative being pushed because they want that on display They want this is what they want you to see No remember and everything else but when it's something else then it's barely there It's anything if it's anything academic then know if it's anything with entertainment yeah they'll put it on blast because these things right there are things that are not tangible they don't really do anything for us as a community they keep us divided and I'm saying that we have to start learning how to read between lines The racist white supremacist don't do anything that won't strengthen their position If you don't remember anything else remember that even if you think it's something good for you remember that if it don't benefit them understand No they ain't no oh it'll benefit you and me No that's that's not no.

Very interesting but this has nothing to do with FBAs of today. And we are not worried about ever being enslaved by anyone. Because I guess the white supremacists people have forgotten that once the southern Confederate States black people get feed up, the white supremacists people knows exactly what will happen because it has happened before. Be careful about what you do or say to the southern Confederate States FBAs. Because we are known to buck and nothing good here happen for the white supremacists people. Just leave us alone and fight for yourselves.
