In 2024 among the top 15 hottest places in the world, 4 Indian cities featured in that list, all in the Thar Desert. How do people live in India's hottest place in unforgiving summers? It is so big that Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand can fit inside it! 85% of the Thar desert is in India, and 15% of it is in Pakistan. It is the 10th largest desert in the world! The Thar Desert is home to around 2.2 crore people (that’s equal to the population of Jammu & Kashmir). It is also the most densely populated desert in the world with 83 people per square kilometre!
