The bleaching of coral is caused, not by heat, but by the abundance of the crown of thorns. This is a man-made issue due to the removal of lobsters that eat the crown of thorns. A 6-month study of an area on the QLD coast where lobsters were blocked from fishing, reduced the number of crown of thorns by a huge amount. New pigments in corals were seen immediately.

I live in Sydney my Niece lives about 4 hours north. A few years ago we ran into one another on Hamilton Island, off the coast of far north Qld. Hundreds of kms away. Just goes to show you that you can live on an island continent and,still run into someone you know.
