Not quite Pinterest-worthy? That’s exactly the case with my friend Andrea’s dining room. We wanted to keep the space minimal and elevated while making it truly functional for a growing family. So today, I’m transforming this dining room with thoughtful decor swaps, a DIY bench cushion, and an art hack that took me embarrassingly long to discover. Watch this modern dining room makeover come together from start to finish, and let me know your thoughts in the comments! - Kelsey Subscribe for more DIY's!: http://bit.ly/subthesorrygirls Join our the Sorry Squad!: http://www.patreon.com/thesorrygirls __________________________________ MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO: *Furniture Sliders (Canada): https://go.shopmy.us/p-62149625 *Furniture Sliders (US): https://go.shopmy.us/p-62149481 *Dining Chairs: https://go.shopmy.us/p-62151774 *Pendant: https://go.shopmy.us/p-62150632 *Shelves: https://go.shopmy.us/p-62151091 (links with an * are affiliate links) __________________________________ VIDEO CHAPTERS: 0:00 - intro 1:28 - the design plan 2:00 - marketplace pickups & picking out fabrics 4:56 - clearing out the space 7:07 - window treatment DIY 10:40 - bench cushion install 12:43 - pendant light install 14:58 - art frame hack 18:00 - shelf install 18:56 - final touches & reveal __________________________________ VIDEO CREDITS Host & Creative: Kelsey MacDermaid Producer: Nina Pikula Creative Director: Emma Keat Video Editors: Nick Liske & Justin Abalos Social Media: Melanie Parkinson __________________________________ OTHER PLATFORMS @thesorrygirls everywhere! I feel if you really do the rest of the space you can put more wall decors in, but I agree with what you said. Because you only did the dining nook and didn’t want it to not be cohesive to other spaces in the house. This is nice.
Okay I love you girls you know I do I would have added light fixtures on either side of that window even if they were LED cordless. The window needed earrings 😂
Love this!! The absolute best thing you did was reframing the artwork. It looks incredible now. It’s a beautiful piece and now it has a fitting setting.
wowowowowowowowow that painting is everything !~
It is luxe. I love the fabric you chose for the seating cushion and back rest. The hanging lamp is gorgeous!
Upholstery - to get it even, without any puckering, you want to staple it in a deliberate pattern. It's best if you start on the short side on the right with one staple in the middle. Go to the other short end, pull it taught, and staple once in the middle. Then, one staple in the middle of one long side, go to the other long side, pull it taught and staple in the middle. Then, go halfway between the middle staple, then go to the other long side, staple. Voila! Gorgeous job!
Beautiful transformation, envy her new dining area
Turn out so beautiful ❤️❤️
Can we please get a video on the diy lamp shade, please
Get the most comfortable seating you can usually higher back or you won’t want to sit there. You have to sit in a lot to judge because most of it is stiff.
I love the new mat and frame so much! I didn't know you could just make your own mat like that!
I try to keep glass away from sunlight so matte in those areas. Plus they could fade. Glass isn’t modern to me.
Can’t WAIT for Becky’s storage room makeover!
I did the batting separately from the fabric , did one staple middle of each side, then the corners then filled in All while pulling tight
Oooo! I was waiting for the light swap!
I LOVE this makeover! Question: how come you didn’t change the table?
Why am I 60 years old and never thought to buy an art piece for the glass only. Love the new art frame color.
You guys never miss, 10/10!
I love your work ❤
So glad you explained your thought process because when I saw the color of the fabric for the valance I definitely was questioning where was the color in this makeover? You can definitely tell the difference in the end the room has some intention to the styling. Simple transformations are practical and good to see too!
