Brett Hull. It was crazy how after he scored while he 'wasn't in the paint' they changed the rule and let players score in the paint

Dam i always thought that the "no play zone" was to protect the goalies. I didnt know it was because of a player that is cool.

How about Clint Benedict? He would drop to the ice to make saves in the NHL’s infancy. Back then it was against the rules to do so. They eventually changed the rule to allow goaltenders to drop down on the ice. Imagine not having butterfly goaltenders in today’s NHL.

Mike Palmateer would gouge up the crease after the 3rd period ( teams originally swapped ends for regular season overtime ) The next year the league ruled teams stayed in the same end.
