It'll be very hard to find a better match all Championship - this was a classic!
It's why we love the GAA. McCarron's kick is exactly twice as good as Fitzgerald's all those years ago.
Derry have to be absolutely sick this mornin throwing that away, great win by Monaghan fair play
Wow! 2 dramatic endings in one match.
Insane this wasn't on rte or bbc
Fair play to the ref but also, jesus christ ref, how are you getting that wrong? Also, Conor Glass standing in the goal is hilarious at 7:27 - Also, McCarron's foot was on the line when he hit the ball? Is that okay?
Great game, well done Monaghan 😊
Jes, how did the ref not know the rules about ball going over the line before the hooter. This is a crazy thing to happen. Look i suppose it got corrected but still looks bad for the ref
Ref was a joke. At the end the hooter went and he blew his whistle and it was over. He can't just redo his decision, it's unfair, plus you're not allowed to score a two pointer from a sideline. Somebody needs to do something about that! 😮
One of the all-time great championship matches
Michael Bannigan was in my class in school. I remember him saying in front of the class one day that he wanted to be famous in Ireland for playing GAA for Monaghan. Here he is now as captain for Monaghan.
I like how this ref just makes up the rules. He's the main character in this drama. This spectacle for the eyes. Bravo 👏👏
A classic! Dodgy foul at the end though??
Is a sideline not only worth 1 point?? Also his foot broke the line. Should be replayed if it is in fact only a 1 pointer
GAA doing their best to turn football into austrailian rules . Gaelic football is ruined , does anyone else see this ?
Two pointers have really changed the game for the good. Great game
Very lucky last 2 pointer fan went wild
WHAT A SIDELINE KICK BY JACK McCARRON THAT WAS A TRULY WORLD CLASS KICK. DERRY WILL BE KICKING THEMSELVES BLOWING A BIG LEAD.
A game that comes to mind for me is Monaghan knocking Derry out of qualifiers in 2008. That was McKaigue's championship debut. Monaghan have given Derry plenty of sickiners over the years.
Nobody has cleared up the question of whether, under the rules, you get two points for a score from a sideline. I don't know if Rory Beggan raised that question with the referee, but I suspect not. I don't think it is fair that you risk a two-point score just for conceding a sideline.
