Liverpool spent 100+ million on a player (Wirtz, whom I'm a fan of) whose best position is the same as one of their best players (Szoboszlai), another 100+ million on a striker who plays the same position as their other big striker signing, and a wingback in Frimpong who doesn't fit the system. It was a brainless, compulsive shopping spree with no attention paid to football fit. What a waste of resources.

What's the big deal with Iraola. He has won nothing. Glasner has had to deal with the same issues of losing players, and into the bargain has won an FA Cup, a Community Shield and has taken CP to a Conference League semi final. He also won two cups in Austria and is a far more experienced manager than Iraola. That said Carrick was presumably given targets that included Champions League qualification. On that basis he should get a2/3 year deal and be given the support required to take MU forward.

Add to the fact he has lfc playing the worst and most sterile football in the league making them the worst team to watch. There is no team that does so little with so much possession. Carrick was an assistant at United. Managed Boro. Came back to United and far exceeded the expectations. Amorim would have been given a pat on the back if he had United in sixth cry for four or more new players to fit his system. The choice of Carrick would be on merit. You get the results, and you get the job.

Not only does Carrick know the football he wants Man Utd to play. But Carrick knows the culture of Man Utd as well. I'd give him the job. Carrick managed Middlesbrough and saved them from relegation, to being in contention for promotion.

I agree with Frank. They’ve had top managers struggle to navigate Man U because of its dysfunction. Carrick at least has a track record of overcoming that and connecting with the players.

Liverpool fan here. United would be mad not to give Carrick the job. He knows the club, more than that he has given United it's culture and identity back. Something Liverpool is sorely lacking

Carrick as a player won everything in club football, in played in those 60 game plus seasons under SAF, he was a coach under Mourinho and Ole, he knows the club inside out. Give the guy a chance

It’s hard to read too much into United being 3rd this season. Between no European matches and getting knocked out of both the Carabao and FA Cups after one match each, United are playing their least amount of matches in a single season since 1914/15. You read that correctly, it’s the least amount of matches they’ve played in a single season in 111 years. Any United supporter who is actually being honest knows that success next season, and actually winning a trophy, will be much more difficult with many more matches. Primarily because of fatigue and injuries actually adding up. As opposed to United’s players having mini holidays all season long. And having plenty of time to rest and recover between league matches.

Frank is actually right....I like Iraola, but what if he becomes another Amorim situation?....they probably should give Carrick next season n see how it goes
