the kitchen was built for giants
Some pointers for kitchen organization: ideally, you would place often-used items between shoulder and knee height. For taller people, it is easier to reach than to bend. You can place lighter objects higher, but in the case of your glassware, you could put that on the first shelf of your upper cabinets, as you can still reach them pretty easily. (But the lower cabinets in the island is also a good idea!). The island is ideal for storing dishware you use when hosting, or for heavier objects. You could also place your plates in the first or second drawer. The spices I would also place in a drawer, they seem to be pretty high up now. Are they easy to reach for you (or the person who does most of the cooking)? All in all a great kitchen with lots of storage and counter space. Enjoy!
Before I forget to comment this - yes to a basket or something to put your reusable bags in. I have a metal basket in our closet by the front door and it's so handy. Anyway, I'm incredibly happy for you in your new apartment!! I'm looking forward to all the future decorating content. You and Joel should most definitely take advantage of this child-free stage of life. Personally I wouldn't want to live in a high rise apartment with a baby / little one. Thinking of the logistics of always having to go up and down an elevator with all the gear they have would be a nightmare. lol It's nice you feel your creative spark coming back! I don't understand why the lamdlord or managment did not remove the used paint prior to you moving in. I would move them sooner than later to not get paint on your coats. Yes, to seeing your apartment hunting.π
