having windows that face anything but north is really important. If your windows face north, yiu get the least direct sunlight and will likely get depressed. On the otherhand, if you want the most light, you get south facing windows. if you want sunset, you go west, and sunrise is east. the best option imo is south or southwest :)

Charleston is a wonderful city. I suggest that you take some of the tours that are offered. you will get the fill of the city/ Buy a book and learn about the history of Charleston . you will enjoy it especially at Christmas. good luck
