My "empty apartment tour" video blew up on TikTok, and I answer one of the most asked questions in this video. Disclaimer: my rent is also NOT $10k per month😂

As a native New Yorker born to immigrant parents I can never understand how people want to pay so much for an apartment willingly. This comment is for the readers not the poster. The smell of peoples food and weed down the hall and elevators (yes even at nicer places now), dog poop and trash everywhere, the chaos that midtown has these days is not just in the news trust me I work in midtown. And corporate jobs in this job market is not something you can always lean on. Kids if your making 15k please get a home it’s already unaffordable. Create an investment because you don’t know if your health and job will be around. Edit: for those who are saying not everyone wants a suburban life I get that but you can still invest in real estate with this type of money because it’s a major issue for our generation. And I actually bought a 2 family in Queens NYC at the age of 32 working as an RN for over a decade being extremely frugal while raising a young family (with no income from my spouse). It can be done but you must want it. For now, NYC is my home and I do love it but it’s getting harder to justify.

Girl, thank you for actually explaining how you afford this. Most people, whether joking or serious, say something like you did at the beginning and just leave it at that as though it’s an everyday common thing for people to live where you do with a view like you have (which btw is *chef’s kiss* wow). Especially since you’re under no obligation to explain how. It just clears it up for a lot of people and puts things in a more realistic perspective, helping them realize that it’s mad expensive to live in NYC

I am a third generation born and raised New Yorker and I’m not going to lie, I’ve held a lot of resentment and anger toward people who live this kind of life in my city while my family and I still struggle in poverty. But I’m learning that there’s nothing I can do to stop gentrification, rich people being rich, and cities like NYC are always going to grow and evolve. I realized I need to be grateful for what I do have. And be happy for others like this. Because no matter if you live in a crappy neighborhood like mine or in a million dollar sky rise apartment, no one’s life is perfect. May you stay blessed ✨

My mortgage is $3.6K a month in the greater Seattle area and it’s a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath. While my views of Seattle skyline is small, I also see mountains around me, even Mt. Rainier. Granted this place may not be as fun as NYC, it definitely has everything I need.

Thank you for being honest and opening your life up to everyone. Beware: jealousy is a nasty little green thing that comes mostly from people who have no idea who you are and what you do. They make nasty comments and expect you to give them every detail of your life so that they can then destroy you because well no one is supposed to have more than them. Make sure you guard your heart. Everything you do flows from it.

Don’t be jealous, be inspired instead. She’s living my dream, I’ve always wanted to live in NYC & own a condo. People get to where they are because of hard work. Also not everything you see in their video is all sunshine & rainbows. People have their rainy days too.

Looks lovely! It’d be so fun to be there for a week or two. But I prefer my little house on the quiet lake 😌
