That whole narration is just wrong😭 It’s a completely different storyline from what actually happened in the show.

The baby was actually full mermaid. The sperm was from a merman, the egg was from Rin. Hope's surrogate mother was a human with mermaid in her bloodline as so many others in that compound. That's why she was able to carry the pregnancy. Rin did not carry her biological daughter

Series name. Siren. This show should've continued on more than 3 seasons, and no cliffhangers. The plotline is wrong. Scientist were studying her, with consent. But she was having trouble with getting pregnant. A clan of human-merpeople hybrids helped out. One of their own acted as a sergeant mother. The child was pure breed. Still needed to return to the water, since it rightfully was a water baby.
