#movies #backrooms #filmmaking I sat down with Kane Parsons in the BACKROOMS to talk about the making of BACKROOMS and how he transformed his YouTube horror series into a full scale feature film. We discuss the visual language of the film, blending Blender environments with practical sets, VHS degradation, office lighting, liminal spaces, and why Kane never wanted the movie to feel traditionally “cinematic.” We also get into THE OLDEST VIEW series. 00:00 Intro 01:07 Kane Parsons on Liminal Spaces 01:29 Early Filmmaking & Blender Origins 01:57 Recreating the Camcorder Look 03:08 Digital, VHS, & Visual Effects 04:54 Expanding OLDEST VIEW Into a Movie 06:40 Building the World of BACKROOMS 08:52 Lighting the Film & Office Aesthetics 09:35 Cinematography Breakdown 09:54 Production Design & Real Locations 12:56 Why BACKROOMS Doesn’t Feel Cinematic 15:22 Filming 360° Practical Sequences 16:47 The Creatures & Horror Elements 19:12 Blender vs Live Action Sequences 20:12 Creating the Giant Clerk Scene 21:15 Final Thoughts & Closing

I'm so excited for that gmod map in the works by the concept artist
One of the best Kane interviews, thanks for breaking into technicals and keeping good pace
20 years old with #1 movie release
The guy is a legit creative genius AND technical genius at such a young age. Just blows my mind. I was such an idiot at his age lol. So happy to see him succeed, its been one of the best stories to ever come out of YouTube. Great Interview!
I enjoyed the movie, but I've been a The Oldest View Extremist since Day 1, haha. More Oldest View would be awesome!
Theres a scene with a giant shadow of a fan cast down from a masive tube in the ceiling. Quite certin thats a refrenece to the orange ratman den in portal 2. Made me grin cheek to cheek
It's amazing how humble "The Older Gentleman" is to let Kane take full credit for directing The Backrooms movie! 🎥
This is like interviewing Nolan before he was born.

This and Obsession has resurrected the genre. Finally Hollywood is waking up to the reality we’ve all known: the next great creators are on the internet
His confidence is terrifying
I'm going to the movie theater for the first time and I am very happy that this is the movie I'm watching! Can't wait for more Kane Parsons movies.
*Mythical Refresh Pull* ❤️🔥
A lot of the framing reninds me of Severance
I wish that the part of the film that had the remake of the original 4chan image was a real part of the set because it would've been cool to be able to walk in an actual real life recreation of that renovation image
Oh I love that this is a full breakdown interview. And also really neat that you're getting into The Oldest View series. That's amazing too.
To me, the movie was incredible. Scratched that exact, uncanny, niche spot for me. Thank you Kane, I cannot wait to see it again, and I am not usually the type of person to rewatch movies. Just wow.
Thank you for interviewing Kane parsons, got to learn a lot
I've nerded out over his series for too long, and now I've watched the movie, yet this man has got even more up his sleeve. Bravo, Mr. The Oldest Hugs.
