14:46 In the Polar Opposites Show, she is actually the third girl that shows up in the Amusement Park Cameo in the Background.
14:34 Best girl (Tsukiko) has entered the chat. 24:26 Yes, she lives with her mother. If you watch the OP, you see her mom running out the door while Koyuki is eating toast. The implication being her mom leaves early. We’ve also seen Koyuki getting home late with no one home. That implies she’s alone most of the time.
I've come around to the theory that Igarashi did realize that Amamiya was talking about Koyuki, but he avoided the uncomfortable topic by answering the actual question Amamiya asked, "Did you know a person named Hikawa in Middle School?" He answered honestly. If her name changed after middle school, he didn't know anyone named Hikawa at his Middle School. So he wasnt lying.
Finally getting more info on Yota as a person, his dynamic with Koyuki is great
Yessss, I have always thought this gentle giant had some more to him, so glad to finally get some of his story.
14:58 Her Jobs are relatively flexible shifts and she doesn't work that many hours, so either way she has the most time on her hands. They probably don't even know she has a job, and it might technically be against the rules to have one (Depends on the school.)
18:25 I think Koyan not wanting to be in a relationship and her liking Yota can both be true at the same time, similar to well....Amamiya not wanting to be controlled by emotions, but being controlled by emotions......
Yota and Amamiya especially are honestly two of the most interesting male main characters I've ever seen in a romance anime/manga. They're great. Before they started showing things from his POV, every time I thought I had a read on Amamiya, he'd do or say some little thing that made me wonder, "what's this guy thinking? What's he trying to do?" I kept flipflopping between "this guy's a scumbag" to "oh he's not so bad" then to "oh my god just leave her alone dude." It's really interesting. And Yota was just this bundle of mystery to me that I couldn't figure out until they started to delve into his feelings and emotions.
I mean in Hyouka since its not a brainrot Harem, Oreki being into Chitanda becomes friends with Mayaka (And she even hates him at first so their is an enemies to friend's trope.) And Satoshi being shipped with Mayaka is also friends with Chitanda albeit she's not particularly close to him compared to the other Classic Club Members.
This ED building up reminds me of Burning in season 2 of Oshi no Ko so good lol
Amamiya is so funny
14:46 the face on this girl and her working on the school library reminds me of Nishi 15:11 but this actitude reminds me of Honda
No I think Koyan is into Yota, even if she doesn't consciously realize it, her trauma verses her feelings might come up later. And I don't think him reminding her of her Dad means he's Dadzoned, I think its more people often model their expectations of their partner based off a parent or an important figure that served as a role model in their life.
im happy youre enjoying this show just as much as me! its my fav this season :)
Love the Igarashi and Miki section most.. It made me more curious to know more about what Koyuki was going through as she does not look alright in the panel. I think she has the 'Thats why' thought because she realized the reason she felt comfortable with his is because he reminds her of her dad. Right now I think their relationship is purely platonic. Koyuki probably doesn't have romance on her mind yet . P.S.. There are some very spoiler replies in the comment section. Please proceed with caution
18:54 19:39 good observation 😯
This is a bit of a tangent, but when I watched/read Polar Opposites, I remember being surprised by how different Taira and Azuma were, tonally, in comparison to the rest of the cast and story; I loved everyone, but I found myself really gravitating towards and adoring them. Those two are what made Polar Opposites really click for me as something special. It was like they came from a whole anime, so when I checked out Ramparts of Ice, I realized why I liked them pretty quickly lol. TairAzuma's struggles with their sense of selves, their cynicism towards others after having been wronged so much in middle school, their self-deprecating nature, it all slots pretty neatly into Ramparts of Ice and its themes, and they really do feel like they're from this sort of story. But also, for that same reason, I think them being in Polar Opposites where the rest of the cast is so wholesome and bubbly and somewhat childish (in a good way) is very important. I love Ramparts of Ice A LOT, probably more than Polar Opposites, but whew! It is so mentally draining sometimes lol. There were times I was reading it and I had to just set down my phone and mentally recuperate from the amount of stress these annoying little creatures (lovingly) were putting me through.
This is gonna sound mean but I am getting a kick out of Amamiya’s emotions going haywire. The brief flashback to his brother was interesting— it sounds like his brother wanted to pursue a dream, or something along those lines, and effectively got kicked out because the parents disapproved. Which ties back to why Amamiya prefers to avoid asserting himself and kicking up a fuss. I’m in the same camp of thinking Koyuki and Yota’s friendship is going to be fully platonic. I already didn’t get the romantic vibes from them, but then Miki (and her manager lol) started shipping them, which was perhaps too blatant a misdirect. I learned from the last time when Miki confronted Amamiya in front of the vending machine! Anyway, romantic or not, Koyuki and Yota’s relationship is super cute. And their similar situations can perhaps provide opportunities for bonding. Meanwhile I’m not sure that Yota does like Miki? I think right now the only one who is developing any sort of romantic affection is Amamiya, towards Koyuki. Yota’s seeming airheadedness becomes a little sadder to think about when you consider the possibility that it might be a bit of a coping mechanism for his troubles at home. He likes to zone out because thinking leads to worrying. I definitely want to learn more about him. It’s particularly interesting how he said that he finds his current situation “normal” instead of “nice” or “comfortable”. Like he’s just used to it, from a detached point of view. Shimojima can potentially be an interesting wild card in these relationship dynamics… she kind of seems like the “normal” girl that could be a great confidante for Koyuki.
Commiter is our word but you can say commitee
I could watch Minato get hit in the head every day.
