who ever calling Al Pacino's performance in this movie over the top know nothing about cinema .... this is acting at it finest ... pure perfection .... in each scene he gave a free acting lesson ... truly deserved his oscar & even denzel said he voted for Al

Imagine being the writer. Knowing that you have a great scene and then watching your words become legendary. The actors always get the real recognition, deservedly so in this case, but the writing was just as spectacular.

How on earth did Pacino keep from blinking during these long lines? Just astounding. Probably the best acting job in Hollywood history. So glad he got the Oscar.

Given the time elapsed since this movie came out and the people we see filling up Congress, I must say that the "be careful of what type of leaders you are creating" now seems eerily prescient.

To act like this, AND pretending to be blind, which requires a completely separate set of controls on its own, requiring a separate focus, makes this into one of if not the best monologues in cinema history. Amazing stuff!! BTW I had seen it, but because it is so subtle and so utterly fitting I overlooked the deliberateness of it, but when Pacino stands up, he grapples for his cane, and misses at first try. That short interaction with the cane is so absolutely selling his blindness, that was a stroke of genius to put that into the scene! And the execution, again, sold it 1000%!!

Al Pacino. A legend. I never saw him give a bad performance. But this was in my opinion is the top of the mountaintop. The pinnacle of his brilliance.

“No, I’m just getting warmed up.” Audiences everywhere settle gleefully into their seats to watch a master at work. This is the catharsis of classic drama.

When he said “integrity”, I don’t know why but I started crying. I wish I had someone like this to stand up for me when times were hard. I can only hope there are people like that in the future, in case someone wants to punish me for my integrity.

I never saw Al Pacino in a movie that I did not like but I truly agree this was his best of one of his best movies; best performance.
