Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is attempting to juggle college classes and his job as a photographer with the Daily Bugle while maintaining his secret life as costumed crime-fighter Spider-Man. Parker is also struggling to hold on to his relationship with Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), who is beginning to enjoy success as a model and actress, and both Mary Jane and Peter have noticed he's beginning to buckle under the strain. Parker's friendship with Harry Osborn (James Franco) is also beginning to fray due to Peter's seeming alliance with Spider-Man, whom Harry blames for the death of his father, the nefarious Norman Osborn. As Parker weighs his responsibilities to himself and those around him against the obligations that come with his special powers, Spider-Man is faced with a new nemesis -- Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a deranged scientist whose latest project has turned him into the near-invincible cyborg Doctor Octopus. Spider-Man 2 was directed by Sam Raimi, who helmed the first film, and much of the original cast has also reunited for this sequel, including Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons, and Bruce Campbell. And they kept his secret 😭🙏🏾 this scene always makes me cry
I still come back to this scene, 20 years later
The older I get the more I love this scene and movies too. Tobey's Spiderman was the goat.
This is my most favorite scene of all the Spider-Man films probably. So genuine and human.
0:12 got me dying fr💀💀
I first watched this in the theater in 2004 when I was only 7. Now I’m 28, and I can finally appreciate just how powerful and iconic this scene truly is.
In all seriousness, I still think this is the best Spider-Man movie (and possibly the best superhero movie). It captures the personal conflicts of Peter Parker (such as the balance of being a regular person while also being a superhero) so freaking well while also adding some great action moments, fantastic music, and a threatening villain!
It took Tobey Maguire 168 takes to stop the train without CGI, real dedication right there.
21 yrs later and it's STILL peak
The best Spider-Man.
3:24 best scene
1:20 best scream for strength
1:12 me trying to wake up on Monday
I cried when I first saw this scene. When the people helped spidey...I was ballin my eyes out
The new movies miss the grittiness in these movie this scene and the last fight with goblin really highlight the violence and pain
"Anymore bright ideas??" "Yeah, stop this fkin' train yourself" *Swings away*
