Buck Shelford - to this day - played on with a torn nut sack. Iβm not writing this to deny Richieβs greatness - not at all. Iβm proud of Richie as he was one of my students in my student halls of residence. I canβt be prouder. But - Buck Shelford played on with a torn nut sack. Not only that - Buck Shelford demanded the haka be done authentically and for unconditional mana respect to NgΔti Toa and NgΔti Hikairo ki Tongariro. Also β¦ shout out to Gilbert Enoka IYKYK.
Who cares
He came off the field every game looking like he had wrestled a bengal tiger
The greatest example i have seen of a leader. A great role model
he aint a shadow compared to Wayne "Buck" Shelford. greatest hardest AB captain. who also made the AB's do the Haka prperly with mana.
The GOAT!
whqt a privilege being a crusaders and ABs fan since '97 and watching Richie debut to retirement. ππ
Very very tough, but imo buck shelford takes the cake for toughest.
His All Blacks were the greatest team in history. King Ritchie!
Stress fracture only. Not Rigor Mortis though π₯΅π₯΅
Burger was a great player and a great opponent of the ABs. Richie to me is the greatest leader we have ever had and one of the best rugby players of all time.
hmmm badass or idiot causing long term damage....I'm going to say the latter.
Ritchie is the GOAT. We will never see the likes of him ever again.
They attempted to rewrite the rules because of burglars like Ritchie McCaw, he was just so good at the tackle, then instantly be standing and picking up the ball that it became a massive controversy. In rugby, the tackled player must release the ball... at which time any player on their feet can pick it up... so players support their ball carriers by basically running over the top and knocking people over, allowing their team to continue into another phase of picking up the ball, passing and running. Ritchie basically tackled guys and stayed on his own feet through sheer leg power and great technique, meaning as soon as the tackle was made, he could essentially pick up the ball and turn over possession... an amazing talent that made him "The Goat". You see these guys on TV and think wow, so impressive... but then I once stood beside him in a cue at a Subway and im 6ft5 and I realised hes actually way shorter than me lol, obviously... 4 times stronger thoughπ
Got Richies Autograph Hanging in the Living room...Greatest Captain of All Time......
Would be great to know if you are not from New Zealand with these comments as Iβm sure rugby players and fans around the world love or hate would have to respect this manβs unwavering selfless toughness. Watched him as a kid growing up and played rugby and always looked up to Ritchie ethics
Holy wreck I didn't know you were allowed to make YT videos using a whole film as a template.
Richie sets the bar high.
100% deserves the title of GOAT.
Thank you for the memories Ritchie
