It's up to the fans. Write, text, speakup online, you're not going to pay for uninteresting, stupid rules (no kickoffs, no defensive head slaps, no hitting receivers until they're yards away from scrimmage, no more synthetic grass indoor covered stadiums (the fans were tougher then too - frozen tundra), no end zone silly dances and sack dopey celebrations. Just return to the huddle and get ready for the next play. Then ... don't go to the games until you hear the owners are panicking.

When they played for the love of the game not the money. I get sick and tired of teams scoring TD's and then they run to a TV camara and act like fools. They play for the money and that's it no love for the game.

These highlights show why even the best QBs had lower completion percentages in those days. It's a lot harder to complete passes when QBs and receivers could get lit up with impunity.

Some of these old games were rough but boring because the QB's head kept ringing and messed up plays get boring.
