Chris Mannix and Rachel Nichols debate whether the narrative around SGA's foul-baiting is overblown and whether his aggressive playing style should be imitated more.

Poor Chris, just because every flop isn’t called a foul doesn’t mean they aren’t happening at an alarming rate. And just to be clear, it’s not just Shai. His team is following his lead in ridiculous reactions to little or nonexistent contact. But hey, defend it if you must and keep telling people not to trust their lying eyes

Chris Mannix to everybody: 'Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?' And SGA was not the player most valuable to his team- that was Jokic, or Cunningham, or Brown, or Brunson.

I was rewatching the 2012 Finals last night between the Heat and the KD Thunder. I thought to myself, "It's so nice not to have any flopping in this game." As soon as I thought that, one of the Thunder flopped on a play, and the announcers called it out 😂 I really do think there might be a long-time coaching standard for it in OKC

In the court of opinion, SGA is a serial flopper. But the fact that there is actual evidence that he leads the league in falls is insane. There ain't no way an actual basketball athlete who trains their core, balance and legs has excessive trouble standing upright when being pushed or nudged unless they're falling down on purpose. He will be forever labelled as a flopper to most hoopers and that's just the sad reality for him.

Ever since the NBA encouraged ESPN to fire Jeff Van Gundy/Mark Jackson, the new announcers never critique the refs. Reggie Miller has been careful to agree with all calls. Sports Betting is ruining the NBA as they try to protect their "partners" interest. Terry Rozier is the symptom, the integrity of the game is the disease.

The thing is, SGA flops too much. SGA does create contact so yes, he would get to the line anyway, but not on every call because he's a bigger guard. The comparison is Jalen Brunson. He jumps into guys a lot and he flops too. But he gets call on minimal contact because he's smaller. All in all, SGA and a bunch of players flops, but it's hyper focused on SGA because the Thunder are winning...

"people said LeBron / James harden were floppers" they were. That's why people called them that. No one ever said SGA is the only person to flop. He's just doing it the most egregiously now.

You could argue that SGA isn’t the flopper, it’s the referees enabling it. They have basically turned him and the entire into a team that benefits from these calls. We have all seen clips where OKC players hit the floor with little to no contact and still get the whistle. At the same time, they play very physical defense on the other end. As long as fouls are called this way, SGA and OKC will keep that reputation.
