this actually hurts. PLEASE FOR THOSE UNAWARE, STOP “RESCUING” FAWNS! unless the mother’s corpse is nearby or it looks injured/malnourished, do NOT take the fawn! the mother is nearby! it’s a survival tactic because the mother stands out more than the baby does, so if a predator were to be nearby, her baby wouldn’t be in as much danger as it would be if nearby!

When a deer fawn pancakes like that it’s because some type of danger call their mom sends out or when they sense danger or smth, the spots on their back acts like camouflage for them and I’m pretty sure they don’t have a scent either so it helps with predators while mom lures them away Correct me if I’m wrong on anything!

Fun fact. All black and all white are both caused by the same gene mutation. Just one is hyper pigmentation the other is lack of pigmentation.

Glad the last one didn't move it. Most of the time when a baby looks abandoned, they aren't. I believe (pls correct me if I'm wrong) that the mothers stay away from their babies so predators don't find them and they stay hudden, and she goes to eat and come back for the baby later
Fawns are angels.
