As much as I think Alvarez is a top player, I don't think we should break the bank for him, even if we can. We had the opportunity to sign him earlier in his career for a much lower fee, and we could potentially get Victor Osimhen for less as well. Spending an excessive amount now could set a precedent that encourages other clubs to inflate their asking prices whenever they negotiate with us in the future. If we spend 150m on Alvarez, then we haven't learnt anything. The only player that we can justify paying that much for is probably haaland. It's much better to find another striker for 100m and then use the 50m to reinforce the defence
