When she passed when I was 15, I had to do everything my mom did; cook, clean, laundry, and grocery shopping(although he had to come to pay). He had to learn to pay the bills also. By the time my son was 13 yrs old he could cook, bake, laundry, iron and do household chores. Not because I made him, he wanted to learn and help. He's 41 now, married with 3 children and he still does all that with my DIL. My DIL is a stay at home wife and she's a great mom and wife and a sweet person.

My hubby was that way. Never cook a meal in his life! I finally said “screw it! I am living my life!” I took up hiking, one activity that he has no interest nor can he physically do it. Now, every weekend, I go do a hike, have a meal with my hiking buddies and then do my shopping. I was diagnosed with leukemia and so that is another excuse for me to travel. I started traveling with friends and since he felt that my days are numbered, he let go a little but After some fighting coz he always wants to come along. Hiking was a great excuse coz he can’t force himself in like he always does. He can stay home, do nothing and rot away. I finally get the freedom to enjoy my life, whatever is left.
