The new Polestar 5 is finally here and Nicola has been among the first to drive it on proper roads, including the final leg of Polestar’s epic Sweden-to-Sahara road trip through southern Spain and Gibraltar. This sleek new electric GT is aimed straight at the Porsche Taycan, Lotus Emeya and Mercedes EQS, bringing up to 884hp, a claimed 421 miles of range and ultra-fast 350kW charging. But is it actually good enough to tempt buyers away from Porsche? In this video, Nicola finds out what the Polestar 5 is really like to drive, whether the clever MagneRide suspension lives up to the hype, and if the Performance version is worth the extra cash. There’s also a closer look at the dramatic exterior design, the minimalist Scandinavian interior, the controversial missing rear window and the surprisingly compact boot. The Polestar 5 sits on a completely bespoke platform engineered with help from former Aston Martin and Lotus experts, and it promises supercar pace with long-distance comfort. But with the electric Jaguar looming on the horizon, should you buy this now, stick with a Taycan, or wait to see what Jag delivers? Watch to the end for Nicola’s full verdict, and let us know in the comments whether you’d choose the Polestar 5 over its rivals. #Volkswagen #GTI #IDPoloGTI #ElectricGTI #HotHatch #VWGTI #ElectricCars #CarReview #Walkaround 🎥 Subscribe to Electrifying YouTube: https://electrifyingcom.short.gy/KK1pbX 🎧 Electrifying Podcast: https://electrifyingcom.short.gy/Pogjfb ✉️Electrifying.com Newsletter: https://www.electrifying.com/newsletter Follow Electrifying.com ⬇️ INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/electrifyingcom FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/electrifyingcom/ X: https://twitter.com/ElectrifyingCom TIKTOK: https://tiktok.com/@electrifyingcom ——————————————————————————————- Check back for the latest new car reviews on everything electric ✅ the latest car reviews ✅ car advice and explainers ✅ used and new car guides ✅ head-to-heads WANT MORE ELECTRIFYING.COM? These cars are fantastic and look amazing but when you get a price tag that is over 3 times the average wage in the UK you have to ask yourselves if we are missing the point a bit.
You know if you painted this red and put a Ferrari logo on the front it'd look like a really nice 5 seat electric Ferrari (you know in case they suddenly need one)
Lovely car. Downside - mortgage needed to get one ☹️
Wouldnt dare take it in any UK multi storey given those dimensions
Now make it an estate!
In terms of design, there seems to be no competition. Polestar 4 and 5 look just fantastic!!
That all sounds brilliant. I wish I had the money 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Just imagine how nice these will be, once depreciation makes them affordable occasions!
Best looking Polestar to date, definitely and great that it's got a bespoke chassis and the like. I just don't understand why Polestars have to be so damn wide, the 5 and 4 are something like 20cm wider than a Volvo S90, where do you park these things? They're as wide as massive SUVs like the Mercedes GLS. And it's not like these are aimed at countries with a ton of space like the US.
She is very funny. Bet she would be a good stand up comedian
Absolutely gorgeous automobile 💯😎
This makes me excited for the 2 replacement. I hope the 2 will look like a smaller version of this. Give me a RWD single motor, and I'm happy.
Beautiful car! Top!
Too wide for most UK roads, car parks, driveways and garages. Such a shame - needs a 5S edition for the Anglo-Saxon scale.
No. Boot space is terrible and the missing rear window is an atrocity. It’s also wide it’s almost unusable on UK roads.
You make me want to get one your enthusiasm for it….I’ll have to wait for the used ones in a few years
I like the P5 and already sat in one but I think I prefer the Emeya. 🙂
60k, 10-20% smaller and a little more boot space and this would be peak EV
No Nicola’s rants with the Potestar 5 😂
I saw one of these on the M1 on Saturday, its huge!
