I watched this with my dad....he always went to bed early....this nite i said.."you gotta stay up to watch this"? He did...we had a cuppa ,watched it, and now its a memory...dad passed in1997.....but that memory is etched in my brain.....r.i.p. pa... Until we have the next cuppa..x
And still the biggest tv audience past midnight to this day, 18.5 million. I was watching, as an 11 year old, around my relatives as my Mum & Dad were there, in the 2nd row, they went every year. My Dad passed in 2022, he loved his snooker 😢
"It happened in black and white". Good on Steve for making a quip even after feeling like he threw this away. Absolutely no disrespect to Dennis,but Steve should have been able to hold himself together after initially going 8-0 up. Top drama,never to be forgotten in snooker history.
I watched it live. Screaming at the TV - 😂😂😂 It was the most gripping world championship ever.
For someone they used to call boring, Steve was one of the wittiest people with a winning personality

I watched it with my mother who was at the time 92 years old. The oooh-ing the aaaghing and the screaming and laughter mixed with the excitement is something that is still with me. It was almost the last thing we did together. Rewatching it brings back a happy last memory of her.

I watched this match _live_ with my Mam back in the 80s. It still is the best snooker final ever. My Mam is still with us thank God and we reminisced about this only yesterday.
