Ignore Portuguese League for one second. He dominated in the UCL, dominated in the UEFA nations league for his country and won top scorer despite them not going deep in the tournament. Top 15 in Balon D’Or votings. This season he has scored 19 goals already in an Arsenal side that can’t create for sh*t and has not played to his strength all season. For reference, neither Havertz nor Jesus playing in Arsenal sides that were creating chances for fun got anywhere near 20 goals a season. Say whatever you want about Gyokeres he is a very decent 9 and currently one of the best in his position. I’ll be watching him at the World Cup and hoping for a better second season.

Doesnt help that Darwin and Gyokeres werent/arent the end product of the systems they play/played in england. Same with Lukaku in 2022, Alexis Sanchez at united, Luis Diaz at Liverpool, Antony at united. EPL teams play organised football that focuses collectively not on indicidual strengths.
