DRIVEN! Out on the road in this '68 Camaro Restomod

Autos and Vehicles

Welcome to another episode of Retrpower Uncut — number 288, no less… much like the best Ferrari ever made. While we’d quietly suggest that all our videos are worth watching, this one feels especially worthwhile, and particularly if you enjoy watching big-block muscle cars being properly hustled down pothole-strewn rural Leicestershire roads! That’s right: Project Stravaig — our long-term Chevrolet Camaro restomod — is near complete and will soon be handed back to its very lucky owner. Thankfully, we managed to convince Cal to give it one final backroad blast beforehand, because he’s good like that. (Not that it took much arm-twisting…) Elsewhere in the workshop, there’s metalwork progress on the Munich BMW E9 and Wasaabi Saab 900, alongside some exquisite visual refinements from the CAD collective, especially on Project Bassey, the Reliant Scimitar, and Project Geneva, the Jaguar E-Type. Once again, thank you for taking the time to tune in. We genuinely appreciate your support.

21:22 I chuckle to myself every time I see you squeeze cars in and out of your shop. Only in England would you have a high end automotive shop that has such tight ingress/egress. Like threading a needle.

26:34, you think that's a "big car"?? Ha! You could put that '68 Camaro in the trunk - sorry, boot - of my '68 Biscayne. 😊

To roadtest a left hand drive car you should take it to Le Mans. Im happy to ride shotgun for you.

Love the look of the Camaro! Do you reckon they could make one right hand drive? Are there any American viewers who watch this channel? If so what do they think of it? I would imagine it would be very popular.

Great cars, Great videos, Do you use fuel pump pressure spike dampers, I do not remember seeing them on your fuel systems. All the best.

The Camaro looks and sounds insane, Congrats. Does it retain its classic status as far as DVLA are concerned or has it lost its tax and mot exemption?

Great work, great content, thanks guys. Just a word about straight tail pipes on the XJC. early XJ's had straight tail pipes, but were changed for the S shaped ones early on due to exhaust fumes being dragged along the body and entering the car if driven with the windows open. The S shaped pipes cured this. I quote from Nigel Thorley's book Original Jaguar XJ. What's the next Jag you're going to doing, a Mk10 with a supercharged AJ8 5.0 litre ? Jeff.

Great call on the 288 GTO. I do love the look of those things but then I love the look of the Renault 5Turbo 2 as well.

Cal blowing in to the carbon plenum 😂. Why is it that when something like an exhaust, Intercooler or other object to that description enters the workshop that we do this. "I have blown down this tube and can confirm good air flow" 😅😂

Re. the Luce, I think Ferrari got exactly what they paid for when they hired the guy who designs phones. The Renault R5 and R5 'Turbo' are proof that electric cars can look brilliant and still be exciting, even to electric car skeptics. But in all of my jaded honesty, I believe nobody who buys a Luce will care. They just want the commodity points toward getting some special model that will sit in their collection and never get driven, which is all that Ferrari seems to deal in these days.

If you were to put a curly wig on to Cal and train him to over state the phrase "in the world" you'd have the next Jeremy Clarkson 😂

Hi guys👍 Now you have the club up and running you should do an old school club classifieds for members, exclusive access to the stuff you don’t use. It would be a nice Christmas bonus
