Introducing the brand new @ferrari Luce! There's a lot to unpack here...

Ferrari's moto: "Different Ferraris for different Ferraristi." A full Shmee150 YouTube video will follow at a later date, firstly because this car cannot be properly explained in quickfire content, and secondly because it was a highly peculiar setup for media with virtually zero freedom and extreme control - a story for another time. Luce is the first EV to emerge from Maranello, as well as being Ferrari's first 5-seater, after an enormous build up phase leading to a spectacular launch event held in Rome. Obviously it is immensely important for the brand in this huge unknown of an automotive landscape in front of us. The figures are almost irrelevant; 1,050hp, 990Nm, 0-100 in 2.5s, 0-200 in 6.8s, top speed of 310km/h, range of 530km (329 miles) - because this isn't what it's here for. What Ferrari are keen to stress is that it's a Ferrari first, and an EV second. Real sound of the electric 'engines' is captured and offered up to you when driving, the 4 motors offer unique new levels of driving control, and the collaboration with LoveFrom (lead by Jony Ive and Marc Newson) brings in a completely new approach - to everything that you interact with, and significantly, leading the exterior design. From walking into the room and my panic at what I was looking at, to speaking to everyone from Marc to Raffaele de Simone (in charge of making it drive well, and who's work I have always very much appreciated), I came to understand more of what this is. This returns us to the moto, and it's exactly the point. Luce doesn't replace anything, it's an extra. You don't have to sell your Purosangue and get one, if you're a V12-loving petrolhead who wants a transaxle and screaming NA engine then this isn't the car.
