So here's something I've been wanting to do for a while! Today we're gonna try and mod a Nintendo GameCube to install Windows NT. This is my first (of hopefully many) GameCube homebrew experiments! One thing I wanna mention is that some late DOL-001s have the Digital AV Out port but are missing Serial Port 2 because Nintendo just decided to remove ports no one was using to cut costs. I have one of those GameCubes.
Have you tried running Windows games on either console?
heh, "wii've done" in the intro
5:00 I'm so glad he found inner peace
When I was a kid I thought the GameCube's mini discs were going to be the future but no other console ever switched to them.
As a tech myself that works on random projects like these, I love this. We're both in it just for the love of the game.
The Wheel of Names has spoken! Next up: Install UwUntu on a real Galaxy S22! 🎡Loved the GameCube Windows NT video! Since you're on a roll with real hardware modding and architecture battles, I put a bunch of ridiculous software challenges onto a digital spinner to see what you should try next. Destiny chose UwUntu Linux on a physical Samsung Galaxy S22.Since it's a 64-bit desktop distro, watching you use a real PC to bypass Knox security via the teal Download Mode screen, try to compile it for a mobile ARM chip, and inevitably end up running a chroot container with anime wallpapers on a premium AMOLED display would be peak entertainment. Please make this happen!
wow this is sick
There are actually 3 revisions of the GameCube. The 3rd is a late DOL-001 model that has the digital port, but not the SP2 port. The only way to tell them apart is the cover over it is similar to the DOL-101, where "Serial Port 2" is not embossed into the plastic cover. Technically, you could enable SP2 with some extra soldering of wires. The majority of DOL-001 models will have SP2 port. The late DOL-001 without SP2 is uncommon.
11:57 WHY ARE YOUR CONTROLLER CORDS TWISTED LIKE THAT!?!??
Dat shaft, dem holes! 😂🤪
MJD video without problems? Impossible!
The first thing I saw inside was the CMOS battery, and I wanted to replace it then and there.
Win NT 3.51 was my fave especially when adding in to IBM OS2 warp 4.0 ^_^ but finding video and hard ware drivers that support the game cube video and gpu on such a older unsupported system
do i have a gamecube? no! did i watch the whole video? yes!
The modchip uses an RP2040, which is the same microprocessor the Pico uses.
Im going to wait until I go to sleep and then listen to this video
mjd voice is my antidepressant
I swear, getting Windows running on consoles is the new "Getting Doom running on a roll of toilet paper". I love it.
cool vid, love it!
