$300 for a plastic oilpan is highway robbery. I got a brand new plastic transmission oil pan for like $45. It was for a hyundai but come on man

i had a co-worker, an older woman, who thought it was gonna be just fine if she drove a couple more days without oil in the engine, simply because she was busy. I had to explain to her what happens with dry on dry metal.... seeing this car, kind makes me feel a similar kind of way.

This video triggered my ptsd I have a 2015 GTI. Pulled out of storage this spring with low oil pressure. Pulled the pan and found a few chunks... None in the oil and no glitter. Sent to black stone for analysis. They said its in great condition.. Pulled the oil pump after finding metal in the pickup. And the rotors in the pump were shot and the housing was gouged. New pump in, reused pan and it's running within spec. I've put 400 miles on it since, and I'm CONSTANTLY hyper analyzing every noise I hear. I'm totally paranoid that I'm driving a ticking time bomb.

Low oil pressure probably meant the timing chain tensioner wasn't tacking up the slack, hence the rattle.

The rattle you hear from start is the camshaft adjuster on the vvt system. It wears out if there isn't enough oil and even breaks up inside. If you were to replace the timing chain, I would replace this at the same time
