Every trip, every train ride, every brutal training camp, it’s always been for running with a performance over everything mindset on this sub-2:10 marathon journey. But recently I realised something ridiculous… I’ve never actually explored Japan properly. And apparently there’s one place that Japanese runners escape to every winter when they need sunshine, huge mileage and a mental reset from the chaos of mainland training. So today, I’m heading deep into tropical Okinawa to find out why...

No hacker can stop that Sunday upload schedule! 😤 Let me know if this vid showed up as usual for you on YouTube and if my profile pic/channel name are looking normal (hopefully I haven’t been blacklisted for crypto-scamming!)
Jake is the best advertisement for traveling to Japan.
This is obviously fake hacker content! 😉 — Glad you got it back mate, can’t wait for some more carthorse running!
I’m a merchant sailor, and Okinawa is one of my favorites. I describe Okinawa to friends as, Japan’s Hawaii.
17:00 is that a sneak peek of ran to japan merch??
The year is 2032. Jake is now 680lbs having long given up the foolish obsession with running and is a full-time scran to Japan evangelist
16:21 oh my god its so beautiful, it would be every runners dream route
20 mins of pure running dopamine
Came for the ran, stayed for the scran
Okinawa has a couple marathons I ran when I was stationed there that you’d be competitive for the victory!
peak content we are so back
Flat pedals? No SPDs? No pull to work the posterior chain? Monster!
Typical runner, goes on holiday to switch off and then talks about all the great running areas for training sessions 😂
the smooth accent on/off was gold... comeon!
You came to my backyard and didn't even let me know! I run by the Churaumi Aquarium several times a week on about a 15k loop. I'm at the track you showed 5:57 and later in Motobu most days, usually just to round out the mileage I want to hit (I hate running in circles). Sata Undagi is AMAZING!!! There's a pretty good variation in taste, texture, etc., depending on how well it is made. Can sometimes be disappointing. You probably got some average stuff, and then with the ice cream that would surely be great, it just left the sata undagi tasting meh at best. Edit again: You road the bike down "my friend" at the very end; the hill just past the track. I am on that hill almost daily and call it "my friend" cuz I used to hammer hill repeats there before when I was serious (for me) training some years ago. Would alter workouts of running halfway up the hill at 85~90ish %, and all the way up at 75~80ish %. I attribute my 20 years of almost completely injury free running to that training. Really need to do it again as I'm trying to get back into high mileage running.
Notification pinged just fine Jake 👌
hope you're wearing some bib shorts with all that biking!
Jake, you may know this already, but, ensure you do lots of long duration gentle quad stretches to offset the tonality effect of doing lots of cycling; over time it can lead to knee pain and other injuries if not managed. Enjoy the hols!!
I view your videos for running but Love how you show Japan
welcome back to youtube!!! i was getting scared there for a second.
