Hey Jo! I've just been watching, along with my husband. As it happens my husband is a health and safety consultant, dealing in property, and he's so outraged by what we've watched he's offered to investigate this for you (at no cost) as it's something he comes across time and again. If you're interested, you could reply to this post. I will give you his email address and you could contact him with photos of the roof terrace, access to same and if you're happy to, the name of the property management company. Health and safety is quite often used as a blanket excuse to prohibit an activity that has had no previous associated risks or incidents and decisions are made by unqualified or over zealous risk averse persons!! I'll leave it with you. By the way, absolutely love your vlog!! x
Get the fire brigade to do a fire safety check for your building as that door is a fire exit so should not be locked .
💜Hi Jo Re: the roof terrace. They have no right to keep the door to the roof terrace locked. If needed it is a vital fire escape. Just a suggestion ………Contact your local fire station and check it out with them. Still loving your vlogs. 🐾🌻 xx
Jo, I’m an attorney from the USA and I reached out to you a few years back when I was in London for the Frieze art show. You haloed us w suggestions and we were thrilled. Anyway- go to a barrister and send a demand letter. If they don’t open up the roof and fix your leak sue them! You have several causes of action! Love to you and Myrtle❤
What happened to the planters/furniture (assuming paid for with communal funds) on the roof terrace? All tenants/residents had keys which strongly suggests that access was not accidental or unauthorised. Even if the lease does not expressly grant access, the terrace appears to have been treated as an established amenity of the building rather than a private or restricted area. You should write collectively to the managing agent and ask them to confirm who authorised the change of locks, what happened to the planters/furniture and the basis relied upon for withdrawing access from residents and leaseholders without consultation. They should also be asked to confirm whether the withdrawal of access is connected in any way to any proposed roof, airspace or upward development, or any intention by the freeholder to preserve or assert development rights over the roof area. Unfortunately, if the lease does not explicitly grant roof access and access has merely been permitted historically, the position may be less straightforward. However, the fact that residents were given keys and the terrace appears to have been used as a shared amenity means it is entirely reasonable to ask for a clear explanation before accepting that access can simply be withdrawn.
I live in an apartment with a small balcony........invaluable. My experience with a management company and a freeholder is that you have to fight your corner. Dont give up. Get a group together and demand a meeting with your property manager from the Management Company. Get a proper explanation, check your lease and dont give up!!
Never justify what you spend your money on. You earn it you spend it, shoes and clothes bring you so much joy
You don’t need to explain, just buy what you like Jo and enjoy it.
Joe don't ever apologise for buying yourself something special. Life is short and respecting the gift of life means creating joy for yourself
I never comment but this time I had to!! I would definitely seek legal advice regarding the roof terrace. When your buying luxury items your using YOUR MONEY!!!!! Not anyone else's!! You work hard and don't have to explain anything to anyone! Of they don't like then don't watch. Loving new hair colour.
Hope you get your terrace back!!
What a sad thing to happen I know how very much you enjoyed your roof terrace🌿🌺😵💫
What the previous girls said about the emergency escape door having always having to be open was also my first idea. I believe as well that the owner cannot forbid a stay on the rooftop, just fixed installments like garden furniture, tables etc. Also the years long usage of the rooftop without any restriction might juristically be interpreted as an usage agreement. I think it is worthy for you guys to hear a lawyer about that.
Get a locksmith and change the lock!!!! Love your content! Love from Glasgow Scotland 🏴
Gosh Jo spend your money on whatever you want. You earned it so that is your prerogative. Loved your latest show and love seeing all you buy. I can’t afford it but don’t resent you for being able to, how mean minded some folk are ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You don’t need an excuse to buy whatever you like. Buy the shoes the dress or whatever life is too short not to. Enjoy ❤❤❤❤
LOVE DAVE, what an ace guy, a hero and stellar friend. ROCK on in glorious Florence Dave, what an absolute star. Adore Dave ❤😊😘
You’ll find the relevant regulations in the Buildings Safety Act
I am so upset for you and the other residents about the roof terrace. I hope you all get together and fight this. ❤️❤️❤️
Roof access is indeed needed in case of a fire and that is why you were all given keys to the roof in the first place. As each resident with a key assumes risk ,This is unlawful what management have and are doing and that is why you are not hearing from them.(They think it will go away )That is why all residents must not be complicit especially in this matter, Otherwise an unsaid precident will be set and you may not have a "legal leg" to stand on in the future. But residents must have access to the roof whether by key or one sided door bar access. P.S. Surely your shoes should be able to be a "tax" write off seeing as tho fashion is indeed your job description 🤷
