The Drama SPOILER Review/Analysis

I think one of the most interesting question is the fact that everybody is judging Emma for something she only planned and never did, whilst they all had pretty fucked up stuff that they actually ended up doing in the past

I think it’s really interesting that Emma’s worst thing is something she planned to do & didn’t yet had to live with the disability as a reminder. She developed empathy & learned from the experience deeply. In contrast, Charlie & Rachel actually did their worst things & yet neither have had long term impacts on their lives & won’t take accountability.

Like obviously I know the Academy will never be this cool, but The Drama is definitely worthy of editing and casting noms.

I really like the comparison in reactions between Emma and Rachel's worst deeds. Rachel actually did that shit, she locked a kid in a shed and was seemingly going to stay quiet to hide her guilt (I know she says she would have owned up eventually, but this is complete BS, she was happy to stay quiet even when it escalated to a town wide search party). Whereas Emma had intentions of doing something terrible, but didn't do it. The group are happy to dismiss Rachel's story where she actually almost killed a child, yet when it comes to Emma's intention of doing something terrible they freak out

One thing you missed, is that Emma NEVER witnessed the car crash, she even says in the movie, it’s nothing like that. The movie was pretty clear in saying the sole reason she didn’t go through with it was pure coincidence, there was another shooting near her and she saw the direct impact it had on those around her. The central motif in this movie is empathy.

Absolutely loved this. Totally insane to experience going in blind.

I honestly think what the friend did was much worse to me I gotta be honest especially since she didn’t go through with hers

Really loved this one! I found it very fascinating how the little bits of symbolism felt more and more forced and less organic as the movie went on as to reflect the way they feel the need to keep that storybook feeling about their relationship. Like they have to act and reset and pretend that nothing has changed. Such an interesting critique on modern relationships.

I loved this movie!

Awesome takes especially about Robert P lying about cyber bullying. I thought there was something false in his share also. The idea that their relationship was shallow up to that point was insightful. The entire experience deepened their connection.

The friend girl popped off on Emma about something she didn’t even do. She’s so judgmental for something that never happened. Emma even became a better person because of it. I watched the whole thing thinking “that reaction makes no sense whatsoever” and It made this whole movie absolutely insufferable

I think the movie ends with them making the same mistake. He lies again just like the first time

I am surprised this opened wide right away. But equally surprised it's getting good audience reviews/a B cinemascore

I think the editing was very good, and the acting was just chef kiss. Alana haim deserves a suporting nomination, you just hate her so mucho in te movie and well.. that´s a great acting!.. Zendaya is a star, a robert too <3

Much better than Project Hail Mary, but the audience prefers shallow and easy to digest story.

Movie was fantastic, loved it

Genuinely one of my favorite movies so far this year. Immensely tense and has incredible stylistic choices throughout that can give you such whiplash from laughing to being terribly uncomfortable. As dark as dark comedies can get, and it makes so much sense that Ari Aster is a producer on this. Going to be thinking about this one a lot. Also, I'M OBSESSED WITH THAT SONG THEY PLAYED TO CHEER THEMSELVES UP.
