I think younger opponents forget that Novak spends the first set analyzing weaknesses, and then starts the match in earnest. Great to see the old boy stepping up, and the bite, depth, and kick on the groundstrokes as he become more comfortable was superb to see. I hope his body holds up, and the legend makes a deep run!

the only man to stop Jannik Sinner in his tracks in a 5 set match the last 6 months is Novak Djokovic. if he plays Dino Prizmic in round 3, he’s gonna have his hands full and will probably be a 5 setter match. Joao can get frazzled very easily so he’s rooting for him Tuesday. but Novak just needed this match as he hasn’t played legit tennis since Indian Wells. the Rome match was very weird as he lost while partially sick. but otherwise he does have a big chance to make a semifinals based on experience alone

His movement, timing to hit the balls, execution, everything looks so off. I hope he will get improve fast in the subsequent matches.
