Speed runner here, if you want to get into speed running you should start with medium length runs on less optimized games. Medium length is like 40 mins meaning there’s more room for mistakes for other players, so being able to optimize a run like that would be better for starting out. Those short runs are usually taken by one person committing days to get the exact count right sometimes even using metronomes for frame counting
