The Secret Culture of the Apes | Wildlife Documentary Watch 'Go Ape - The Fascinating World of Primates' here: https://youtu.be/V3auPw3Ee3M Together with Jane Goodall, whose research and findings on chimpanzees triggered a scientific breakthrough in the 1960s, we set out to find the extent of similarities between man and ape. Using captivating film footage of chimpanzees living in the wild that come nearly face to face with researchers, we show what science has not yet been able to explain. We journey into the forests of Uganda while accompanying primatologists that guide us through their behavioral research on great apes. We observe the creative ways chimpanzees use their tools, along with their understanding of communication skills while foraging and hunting. The researchers use spectacular field experiments to answer the question: Can a previously foreign cultural feature be implemented into a group of chimpanzees? This documentary is on the trail of an enigma: Do chimpanzees really pass on their knowledge and skills to other group members and offspring? Recent research has supported this theory, meaning that man and ape are more similar than we have previously thought. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary - Nature Channel for free: http://bit.ly/2mFDC3Q Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentaryNature #Documentary #Apes ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bring high-quality documentaries to you on YouTube for free. Watching the baby chimps learn by observing their mothers hit me emotionally. It reminded me of how my own parents taught me without words. Maybe culture starts much earlier than we want to admit

Mother Nature (in her seasoned ages) is responding to us with these creatures... If we teach them about weather patterns that could be our sacred gift to them...!

It never ceases to amaze me that some otherwise intelligent humans somehow convince themselves other animals have no idea about tools. I mean... never mind hermit crabs and birds scratching stones and dogs fetching bones: never thought about a how a nest gets built?

To think that this is question we’re asking about chimps, when we can’t even acknowledge the difference between human cultures and races gives me a chuckle.

:27 "some orangutangs, when it's really raining hard and are making a nest will weave a big roof of leaves and branches and this is really an effective way to stay dry". Actually, they're still extremely wet and damp. The better way to say this would be to note how the orangutans are shielding themselves from the rain hitting them while simultaneously dispersing some or most of the rain. These guys are nowhere near dry even in their best case scenario. It's still a really neat observation, he just had a really poor articulation of the result.

Chimps are fascinating because they are so much like humans. Intelligent, family oriented, and I believe they feel sadness and love. They DO have culture. They wouldn't be able to live in groups if they had no cultural. Thank you 💛 very much for this beautiful documentary. I enjoyed it and appreciate you sharing it. 😊
