Btw everyone the animal died because it was basically depressed. We’re all animals and if you give an animal tons of love and then abruptly take it away ofc they’ll be thinking of death

Old psychology experiments are like: What happens if you torture a giraffe and then light it on fire? Finding: It doesn't like it.

The most unfortunate part of this experiment is that Gua had no chance, as a social creature she would have become frustrated and lonely since she couldn't understand human mannerisms or communicate with them. Being sent back to her own kind was also a death sentence because she was already conditioned to behave like a human, essentially being abandoned by those who raised her into another society she wasn't raised into and therefore didn't understand. It's why rehabilitated Orangutans have to go through Orangutan "school" with others of their kind, otherwise they'll be estranged. Edit: since everyone is absolutely pressed about David Kellogg, but knows absolutely nothing about him, I'll inform them here. David was 10 months old when he lived with Gua for 9 months, afterwards he had a completely normal childhood and became a practicing psychiatrist and legitimate doctor. He committed suicide at the age of 42, for unknown reasons, there is absolutely no evidence his involvement in the expirement had any psychological harm, nor that it caused his death. Stop sensationalizing his death, he did not die so that you could use him for the moral high-ground, it was his own business and had nothing to do with Gua.

I seen this entire documentary and its absolutely depressing ... the chimp died very soon after leaving the only family he ever knew because they got rid of him......they raised him in the exact same way that they raised their human son except gave him up like he was nothing afterwards.

Imagine raising a chimp just like a human for the first nine months of its life and then just completely ignoring it for the rest of its life like it's just some animal in a cage

This dude left out the most traumatic part of the experiment… the experiment included firing guns next to donald’s head to compare his reaction to the chimps To people asking for a source… I have no link. I only know this fact because I studied this experiment in high school for IB Psychology; the experiment was on paper in a psychological journal. This detail is likely overlooked because ultimately it was just one variable tested out of dozens and dozens. Furthermore, results were likely underwhelming; the difference in reaction between the ape and the child had to have been negligible. Also, some more specific info for those interested: the gun he fired was like a revolver. Donald would be sitting down, and the gun would be fired just feet behind donald’s head.
