Anyone wondering (spoiler) Rockwell plays a cop in a small town where a teen girl was r and murdered. The case goes unsolved for years and the mother of the girl (Francis Mcdormand) pays advertisers to put up billboards reminding the sheriff of the town (Woodey Harrelson) to do his job and solve the case. The sheriff is also kinda secretly dying of cancer but before it kills him he commits suicide. This sends Rockwells character into a tailspin and he attacks the advertising company blaming them for the sheriffs death thus this scene. π why did I type all that
This was based on the police force in Florence SC during the 1990's! It was a corrupt wild west type of town!
