In the '30s my grandparents ground cactus to feed the cattle. On a half section they got 60 bushels of wheat the ground that for flour and there was cactus growing so they ground that to feed the cattle. The cattle loved it but it was very rich for them so you did not walk behind the cattle. This is an Eastern North Dakota during the thirties. The dirty thirties

My dad's cousins used to work to burn the thorns off.of cactus plants so the cattle could eat them directly.

We fed cows cactus in West Texas when I was a kid. 100 acres per cow instead of 5 cows per acre.

We burn off the cactus needles in Texas to feed the cows. We also cut cactus pads and trim the needles off. Mix with scrambled eggs for breakfast tacos, mix with Fajitas along with onion and bell pepper. It has a texture similar to green beans and is good for your cholesterol. God provides ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂 .
