"Highly educated workers can just be underpaid and underemployed," brutal realism in this Cities Skylines 2 playthrough
In keeping with the 15 min city, our university students need transportation and/or some other uses near them.
A New Banff intro! Oh we're cooking now! It's fantastic
Phil - you either need some sort of public transportation option to your university and college campuses - also probably a student bar of some sort.
$56 a month rent is crazy 😭
"Hey Bruceyboy, can you change your mod for me?" Such a great community the Skylines one. 👍
Phil, I am loving this series. Simpler, 30 min videos and more frequent. Don't get me wrong, I also love the 1h videos and hope you keep doing them from time to time, but I think this short pace model is great. I hope it is bringing better returns to you as much as it has been good for us.
Reinventing the modern education crisis from first principles, lol.
Ba ba baaaaa. For engagement.
13:58 new ba ba baaanff
Phil: "I'm going to have to adjust the workplaces in every building by hand." Realistic Workplaces And Households mod: "Am I a joke to you?"
At least that crematorium isn't like the one I live near which sits right across the road from a huge retirement home. It'd be pretty grim seeing that everyday 😭

_LOVE_ the intro! Having the collage library so far away from the campus makes no sense and would actually be dangerous. It's to far to walk in the winter and students would have to legitimately worry about being attacked by bears. Bears are a serious issue in Banff and there's been a few attacks on humans (mostly hikers) in recent years. The collage would be the perfect place to put another hockey rink and other sports facilities as colleges often have extensive fitness facilities as well as sport teams. The parking structure is very realistic. I went to Conestoga College in Ontario (one of the largest on the province) and there's _huge_ amount of surface parking at its main campus in Doon, Kitchener as it's a commuter campus.
Great episode! It might be time for a public transit update. The commuter college would likely have multiple ways to get there with public transit. Also a point of happiness was being lost from traffic which could be improved by public transit. Love the series!
Today was 44 "ba ba baaaa's", which happens to be my favorite number! Thanks Phil!
What a Canadian high school would have, if space allows, would be a big grass field with a couple of football goals, that you could also repurpose for soccer or baseball as required. But no, like, formal stadium or anything like that. That block directly to the left of it would be suitable.
6:28 Most schools in Canada have sports fields too, but they might not be as fancy, so instead of a stadium a few simple multipurpose fields would be realistic. The structured parking at the college seems excessive. You don’t typically see these outside of densely built-up areas. I think a surface lot would be fine here.
Not gonna lie phil, those university dorms are super out of place for Canadian Universities, at least the ones i've been to. There's been more of a push here for student living spaces to mesh better with the community, have nicer aesthetics and to be more multi-use complexes. It'd be a hard sell for student unions and advisory committees for those student residence expansions to be so basic, considering how it would affect student wellbeing. Even an older rural university would likely have more classical architecture to match the style, or avant garde architecture (by alumni or as a project for donor interests). It would also be super hard to justify a gigantic *outdoor* track-and-field complex in the mountains where snow is on the ground for most of the time. It snows most of the year and the Canadian university academic year usually falls during those colder, snowy 8 months from around september to april. The main use that track would get is only about 4 months in the summer semester, which is off-season for a lot of university athletics teams. I recommend finding a big asset (or several) for moving those sports indoors. Big quansets are common as part of bigger universities. I'd also like to repeat my plea to change the Canadian tire to something else and add a new canadian tire somewhere it makes more sense.
Surprise New Banff intro! Very nice!
