DO A MISSION WITH EVERY PART IN THE GAME
There is a great mod called stage recovery which looks to see if discarded stages have control and enough dV to make it back to the KSC and simulates recovery. Its great for air launching vehicles without sacrificing your kerbals and/or million dollar aircraft
Mount 280 KS-25 engines to the boosters instead so you reach orbit easier.

there is a setting called "persist kerbals inventory" in the game difficulty screen, if you give a kerbal eva experiments it will have it for all future missions. you could for example give it to jeb since you always have him on your missions

if you added a few simple addons (literally just a probe core and landing legs), you could land the first stage back at the KSC and recover it, making the most expensive parts reusable!
