"And thanks... you know... for being my Guardian." — Ghost
A 15 minute freak out is exactly what I wanted. 😂
Marathon is so good tho 8:26 😢
This Week in Bungie episode hosted by Skill Up.
I'm also pretty disappointed that you haven't kept your word regarding a Marathon review. You have not given it a proper playthrough in my opinion, and I think you're letting your personal feelings/expectations get in the way of what can be an excellent opportunity for journalism regarding Marathon/Bungie coming from a passionate Destiny fan. Please give season 2 a proper review, I would really like to hear your full thoughts. Thanks for the videos!
Jeff making Fairgame$ the one last thing at Summer Games Fest is so diabolical lmao
I honestly wasn’t even aware marathon was available to play
The fact is whether Marathon was a success or not doesnt matter, it doesn't even matter if Marathon never existed. Destiny 2 was always going to end at some point. I dont understand how people thought D2 would just live forever, its been 10 years. Once the Final Shape dropped the main story concluded. Why continue playing? Its like Endgame with the MCU. As soon as Endgame released myself and many others no longer cared about the MCU. The story I cared about concluded, and it ended in a satisfying way. I got what I needed from the story. Almost everything that has released after Endgame has been terrible. Destiny 2 is in the same boat. The majority of people found The Final Shape to be the perfect time to stop playing because the main story building up all these years is finished, anything outside of a sequel is going to feel pointless. I stopped playing D2 when they started vaulting content, I've never seen a studio do that. And you're right it completely alienated new players or even returning players from actually enjoying the game. I paid for that content, the fact I couldnt replay the main story again if I wanted is such a slap in the face. D3 should have already been in development as Final Shape was nearing release. In fact if they were smart D3 could've been getting a reveal this year, they could've been 3+ years into development or something and started talking about core features of the game and how it continues the world and all that stuff. The fact that Bungie has nothing now besides Marathon shows their incompetence and Sonys as well. The fact is Marathon is never going to be the success that Sony wants it to be.
Playing Journey at the end of the Destiny rant was a very special touch. Thanks Shill Up
It's really a weird feeling of receiving a newsletter of TWIV but the TWIV video still isn't up. 😅
Wait.... Mixtape was on your "put this on your radar" list!?! And you recommended it? Oh man.
you should've done a boat metaphor for the crashout
"Destiny's monetization wasn't really that bad..." Let me stop you right there. Claiming it's a free to play game while having industry leading price tags for expansions and one of the highest priced "microtransaction" shops and then charging a separate fee for dungeon access isn't that bad? No wonder the gaming industry is so shite.
The biggest tragedy of this final update is we are never getting back any of the good lost content. There's 5 raids, 7-9 strikes, 5-6 crucible maps, 3-4 locations(depends on if you count stuff like leviathan). Not to mention the miscellaneous content like the Tribute hall, the location specific stuff like Escalation protocol, the 3 hidden exotic missions. I may have missed some things and some might be back(I haven't seen everything in the update) but there is still so much gone we never got back.
I do think Marathon has the potential to have broader appeal, not by softening the core extraction loop, but by adding some more PvE modes to supplement (something which Bungie said directly). I think people, me included, love the aesthetic and game, but more variety is needed that can act as downtime, or at least a break in the intensity.
Spiritual successor to TF2 is actually genius to save your studio
Feels less like a price hike and more like VALVe saying, 'please don't buy a steam deck right now'
seeing the chapter called "D2 Crash Out" killed me dude
Sony should sue pete parsons and take his entire car collection and wealth he made off of scamming everyone involved.
So this video arrives late.... used to be these videos came out 2 days earlier than this.... and all because you had to include a rant about Destiny (instead of making it a separate video), which you know people don't care about.... amazing. Simply amazing.
