you know the funny thing about FOMO? once you've missed out enough, it deters you from engaging with the game.
D2 CRASHOUT?? Welcome back ShillUp!
This WEEKEND in videogames
"Sony, you're making a huge mistake" ...Which one, lol? There's so many!
Well lads, we finally got that marathon review
The removed content in Destiny 2 is what killed it. If you can’t bring in new people you can’t expect the player base to grow.
ah yes the good old fashioned 15 minute destiny rant
Sony paying 4 billion for bungie then releasing an niche extraction shooter is a historic fumble
The whole Destiny part sounds like my friend trying to get back his girl.
It’s a testament to how good some parts of Destiny were that it managed to stay alive for over a decade with the type of management it had
There was a good period of time when I wanted to get into destiny coz it looked cool, but when they started “vaulting” content, that’s when I was like okay, no point, not playing a game where half the content won’t even be available after a bit
Bungie management will 100% learn nothing and just blame arc raiders
It’s a shame it took the game dying for them to overdeliver
Hearing skillup discuss keeping D2 going feels like someone giving a very nice eulogy to your abusive ex
How was Destiny 2's pricing anything other than awful? We had expansions, season passes, dungeon keys, event cards, premium cosmetics, character boosts, and even transmog was originally designed around monetization. Some armor sets were $20+ per character, and crossover cosmetics pushed prices even higher. On top of that, Bungie regularly priced Silver packs so they didn't match item costs, meaning you often had to buy the next tier up just to get enough currency. Destiny 2 didn't just have microtransactions. It stacked monetization systems on top of monetization systems.
Opening last week with "Guardians" about killed me, just so you know 😭
4:27 No you can't just say the monetization "wasn't that bad" after all the massive issues and anti-consumer practices you just got done listing. That is maximum levels of cope and sets the bar for other games so low that it fell straight out of hell.
It’s embarrassing that they haven’t had a D3 in the works for multiple year already. The devs literally admitted that the engine was a problem for developers.
The problem with a double down on D2 is that the tiger engine is an albatross tied around Bungie's neck. The reason people want a D3 is not for better graphics or better gunplay or any real change in the gameplay model. People just want a fresh start that erases all the fomo and maybe a new story that doesn't require hours of byf videos to understand.
The 2024 layoffs were not Sony "making a statement" - they were Pete Parsons securing the bag by torching the assets. Sony's actions at that time was the rescuing of a chunk of the laid off staff and their cancelled game, what became TeamLFG and project Gummi Bears. Time will tell if any good will come of it.
