I don't think Ireland need be too disheartened by this. New Zealand are probably 4th best Test team in the world right now. I think the lack of sustained high calibre fast bowling was the difference. I think Ireland just seem unable to sustain long periods when the bowlers are on top. That's not to say they didn't have excellent sessions - they all did. But it's just that ability to turn the screw and that's probably more to do with the amount of first class and test cricket (or rather lack of) they get and the presence of two alternating out-and-out quicks. I think conditions today probably favoured the New Zealand attack too.

I think the New Zealand cricket team is better in terms of norms and behavior, and they always play against every cricketing nation, regardless of whether it is a full member or an associate member. The team, like Ireland, will do much better if big cricketing nations like England, Australia, and South Africa play tests with them regularly.

good game from a kiwi maybe ireland should tour more to nz as we dont play alot of series in tests maybe a bilateral series or send more development sides to nz for tours

If teams like Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Afghanistan want to host Test matches in the next WTC cycle, will they realistically be able to meet all the necessary requirements? Because hosting a Test match is not only about having a stadium. They would also need to provide things like: DRS and advanced broadcast technology Proper pitch and outfield maintenance Strong drainage and weather management systems High-level security arrangements International-standard hotels and transport facilities Experienced ground staff and match officials Stable financial support for a 5-day match Reliable crowd management and ticketing systems Sufficient TV broadcasting and camera infrastructure ICC-approved venues and operational standards Since these cricket boards are financially weaker compared to boards like Board of Control for Cricket in India, England and Wales Cricket Board, or Cricket Australia, can they consistently maintain all these standards on their own?”

The Irish batsmen fell their wickets easily. If they had played like Mark Adair, the match situation could have changed. Despite a good start, they gave away so many runs.
