Swenson, received the Medal of Honor for actions during those deployments. The brigade’s nicknames include: * Spartan Brigade * Tribe of the Crossed Swords (a nickname reportedly given after one of its Afghanistan deployments) * Motto: “Forged for War” So when you see: 12B Combat Engineer, 213th CSSB, supporting 3rd Brigade 10th Mountain Division (Spartans) that means the soldier was a combat engineer assigned to a sustainment/logistics unit that supported the Spartan Brigade’s operations. For context, within the Army, the 10th Mountain Division is one of the most deployed light infantry divisions since 9/11 and has a strong combat reputation from Afghanistan and Iraq. I can watch the scene with 81 back to back, I feel the emotion of it and is it me or does his voice show slight emotion when he says 3rd Brigade as if he wants to cry but knows he can’t . Idk maybe it is just me hearing. . Wish I could have been military ! I always wanted to be , but tried to join too late after I had come off probation after being told by the marines recruiters I can join once I am off only to find out after getting off probation that’s some prick politician in Jersey changed laws preventing all those who have criminal records can’t no longer serve even if you served already . I’m sure some got through with knowing ppl . I tried every branch but went to marines 1st and was denied due to law changes ! I heavily support the military and my grandpa was a surviving WW2 Soldier whom saw combat and Flew bombers for the Army back then . He lived to 94 . Died due to a fucking nursing home neglecting him , never cleaning him , letting him sleep in his own pee and shit never cleaned him and even hit him when he couldn’t defend himself anymore ! The man had bed sores the size of your fist over 15 ! Sorry i am rambling on , it hurts to remember how we was treated when he should have been well taken cared of . I love military movies , they show us a bit of what goes on out there and we obviously love action too ! Just wish our vets got better respect and wish ppl didn’t forget what they did for us ! In all our wars , but especially WW2
