You've reached the end
I agree. Wedding swords should become the norm. I also would like to propose: Funeral swords. We get buried with them so that when the zombie apocalypse starts whoever kills me and finds a master sword replica will feel like they just got a legendary drop
Oh, so that is why all the undead skeleton armies have swords immediately upon rising: their sons never got married, possibly due to failing to break into the crypt.
Can't wait to see this one animated by Punky Doodles.
"babe, where did you get this sword?" "I borrowed it from dad's crypt"
One girl I used to work with actually did this instead of buying engagement rings her and her fiancé bought each other matching engagement swords
I can almost guarantee this WAS NOT a widespread custom among the Vikings.
“Viking” I immediately discount this tumblr story.
Thanks babe the flaming death blade of eternal doom just what I wanted
If the husband is buried with the sword he stole from his fathers crypt, all the women get the same sword. It's a family heirloom
Not as cool as a sword, but here in Wales we have an old tradition of giving hand carved spoons, known as love spoons, in place of a wedding ring, since rings were so inaccessible back in the day
My college roommate did this. Her guy gave her an engagement ring. She got him an engagement sword to display over their mantel.
*Shows up to wedding two hours late, exhausted, in battered armor, and a skeleton still chewing at my ankles* He only had a hammer. Now what?
Fun story: my best friend and his wife can't dance together. Like at all. But they can fight, so instead of a wedding dance, they did a swordfight at the reception.
What happens if the dad is still alive?
If you’re American, wedding guns.
Well, I'm reviving the tradition. My family will be unsurprised.
At least you won’t lose the sword when you lose weight and the ring slips off
"It's 'till death do us part. If you want a divorce, you'll have to fight me for it."
Ive been keeping a list of my friends preferred weapons to get them as bridemaids gifts. My hooe is that they wear them during the ceremony and when the priest asks does anyone object they threaten the audience.
I kind of did this for my wedding. My husband and I had a Viking-themed wedding and used a real sword in the ceremony. We thought my husband raiding my dad's crypt would be a bit much (and complicated since he's still alive), so my dad passed it to my husband during the ceremony. It sits displayed on our mantel now
