shortly after my wife and I got together (35 years ago!) we were going through our finances to make sure we had no surprises or shocks.. I noticed the credit limit on her credit card was significantly higher than mine for the same card company - my income was substantially higher so i asked myself out loud "That's odd - my earning power is currently much higher" to which my wife said "Ah but my spending power is much higher"... that has remained true for the last 35 years!
