This scene is from The Newsroom Season 1 Episode 9, โThe Blackout, Pt. 2: Mock Debateโ (2012). Will McAvoy and the News Night team are presenting a mock debate to Republican officials, but the real point is not to create a smooth TV event. Will wants to show what happens when candidates are not allowed to hide behind slogans. When someone claims Obama took away American freedoms, Will asks for the exact three freedoms that were lost. When another says gas prices can drop to $2.50, Will asks how a president actually controls oil prices. When โMr. Romneyโ says Obama apologized for America, Will demands a specific example. Every time the candidates try to dodge with talking points or media-bias complaints, Will pulls them back to the facts. That is what makes the scene so satisfying: it turns a staged debate into a pressure test where empty answers finally have nowhere to hide. #TheNewsroom #WillMcAvoy #MockDebate #NewsNight #AaronSorkin #PoliticalDrama #HBO #TVShorts

Thank you
One of the best shows of all time. I wish I havenโt taken this kind of dialogue or discourse for granted back then. We so desperately need this now.
This is exactly how real presidential nominees/ candidates need to be grilled by the American people
This was an excellent show!
When its convenient: how does it affect you personally? When its not convenient: your personal experience doesnโt matter you its bigger than you.
This was incredible television. It was brilliant and I cried when it was over.
Such a great show! Too bad politicians arenโt questioned like this in real life. No bias, kept on point with facts.
Such an amazing talk. Thank you!

Obamacare forced you to pay a fine if you didn't pay for Obamacare.
The most unrealistic self righteous thing iโve ever seen
So what series is this!? I need it now!
I remember going to state for speech at the time they called it forensics. This is exactly what it was like. Going to speech tournaments. The standards have gotten so much lower. This brought me back to high school. We did this in high school.
Apparently the president controls the price of gas by starting a war nobody wanted.
Interviewers needs to know their sh!t, and be willing to call them on it and not be retaliated against for doing it to BOTH sides.
