Except you didn't. You bought a blend. A mixture. Something that's maybe thirty percent actual synthetic oil and the rest is just refined crude with some additives thrown in. And it's completely legal. Because in Australia, there's basically no regulation on what can be called "synthetic." The word means nothing on a label anymore. It's marketing. My tip for what it's worth - if your vehicle has a turbocharger change the oil regularly (often well before what the manufacturer says) and use a full synthetic made with PAO base. Turbo's are very hard on oil and people who don't change it before the book say's will find out the hard way that oil is cheaper than a new engine/turbo.
So why is this pathetic government letting them get away with it ???? $$$$$$
I happily use Penrite, but your segment clearly states the HPR range is PAO full synthetic, yet the containers pictured, such as HPR 30, are mineral based oil, and clearly shown on the bottle. You do not mention their full synthetic high performance and racing oils at all !

Fact check… supercheap etc do sell gulf western syn x its $68 for 5 litres. Not the first mistake I’ve seen in these videos
He said Penrite standard range, but put up a picture of an HPR product which he recommends. He's a confused dude. I've used Penrite HPR range for about 40 years and recommend it over ALL others. I'm a retired mechanic, and of all the engines I've dismantled, only 2 have been using Penrite, and they internal parts were super slippery.
I only use Australian made PENRITE brand quality fluids and oils !! I pay $110 aud for penrite racing high performance tenths racing oil ,full genuine PAO and Esther and with full zinc !
Here's the list written out for you - pay attention to the Penrite HPR note. Retired motor mechanic, it’s a jungle. I thought I understood oils but it’s far more complex than I imagined, additives are another black hole of false claims. I try to educate myself with the oil geek. Semi Synthetic is another confusing label. Australian consumer law throws another curved ball.

Why did you leave out AMSOIL ? One of the first to produce 100% synthetic oil for the automotive industry and one that consistently out performs it s competitors in real would tests. Retired now, I was involved from the very first shipment of AMSOIL to Australia and assisted Paul Hammerbeck who was tasked with sorting out the logistics of AMSOIL entering the Australian market. As a Tribologist I realized AMSOIL was the real deal.

I use Gulf Western oils. They are honset and label their oils as either mineral, semi-synthetic, and full synthetic.

Cars of years ago worked fine on mineral oils so this is all crap . Regular changes on mineral oil is better than longer synthetic oil changes all day every day
Makes it hard when your car is still under warranty, being dealer serviced, manufacturer requires full synthetic oil but the dealer uses one of the mis-labeled oils and will not allow the car owner to specify or supply an alternate (proper full synthetic) oil.
