Audi RS2 CRB Gearbox (01E 300 043 S) CRB is the original 6-speed manual gearbox fitted to the legendary Audi RS2 Avant. It belongs to Audi's highly respected 01E transmission family, known for exceptional strength and durability. The 37:9 final drive ratio (4.111:1) provides aggressive acceleration while maintaining usable highway gearing. Gear ratios are closely spaced, keeping the turbocharged 2.2-liter 20V engine in its power band during hard driving. The CRB is stronger and more desirable than many early S2 gearboxes due to improvements in synchronizers and internal components. It is one of the most sought-after Audi transmissions for high-power quattro builds and classic Audi restorations. Common wear points include the 1st–2nd gear synchronizers, shift collar, and bearings after high mileage or abuse. The gearbox must always be paired with a 4.111 rear differential to avoid drivetrain damage. Well-maintained examples comfortably handle significantly more power than the RS2's original 315 hp output. Among Audi enthusiasts, the CRB is considered one of the finest and most collectible versions of the 01E gearbox ever produced. Love the build. Worked on a lot of them..

Seeing the level of complexity, its not difficult to see how cars get written off because of broken gearboxes.
